✈️ Introduction: More Than Just a Trip
Travel, for me, is not merely about ticking off places on a map. It’s about collecting moments, reconnecting with people, and discovering parts of myself in unfamiliar lands. My recent journey to Dubai and Abu Dhabi turned out to be exactly that — a blend of exploration, nostalgia, and deep gratitude.
🏙️ Dubai: A City That Touches the Sky
Dubai, the city of dreams, welcomed me with open arms. From the moment I landed, I was mesmerized by its ultra-modern skyline, world-class infrastructure, and the seamless harmony between tradition and innovation.
The Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure on Earth, left me in awe — a symbol of what vision and determination can achieve. Gazing at the city from its topmost observatory felt like standing at the edge of possibility.
Other highlights included:
Dubai Frame – an architectural wonder connecting Dubai’s past and future.
Dubai Mall – a universe of luxury, entertainment, and wonder.
Mall of the Emirates – where I marveled at the indoor ski resort amidst desert heat.
🤝 The True Highlight: Reuniting with My People
Amid the city’s glitter and glamour, the most heartwarming moments were the reunions. I met old friends, former students, and acquaintances — some after 25 to 30 years. The affection, respect, and hospitality they extended cannot be described in words.
Each meeting was like turning a page from a cherished old book — full of emotion, warmth, and familiarity. Their love made me feel like I wasn’t just visiting Dubai — I was returning home.
🕌 Abu Dhabi: Grace and Grandeur
From Dubai, I travelled to Abu Dhabi, the UAE’s serene capital. The city was calmer, more elegant, yet equally impressive.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque took my breath away. Its serene white domes, intricate carvings, and spiritual aura made me pause and reflect. A visit to the Louvre Abu Dhabi added an intellectual and cultural layer to the journey, showcasing global art through a local lens.
🛍️ A Lesson in Gratitude at a Hypermarket
While exploring a large hypermarket in Abu Dhabi, I felt tempted by the sheer variety of goods. I picked up item after item, only to put them back — limited by my budget and airline baggage restrictions.
For a brief moment, I felt disappointed — even frustrated. Why wasn’t I rich enough to buy everything I wanted? But later that evening, a quiet question arose within me:
“Am I truly poor?”
The answer came quickly.
I had flown across countries, stayed in a 4-star hotel, dined in fine restaurants, travelled in my son’s car, and met people who loved and remembered me.
What greater richness could one ask for?

🇮🇳 Salute to the Indian Community
One of the most inspiring takeaways was meeting the Indian diaspora living in the UAE. Despite being far from their homeland, they’ve preserved the essence of India — its values, its culture, and its warmth.
They work hard, live with dignity, and support each other like family. In their eyes, I saw the spirit of India alive — humble in success, rooted in tradition, and rich in heart.

💖 Conclusion: A Journey Etched in My Heart
As I returned home, I carried more than just photos and souvenirs. I brought back a deeper understanding of life, a sense of gratitude, and the joy of rediscovered connections.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi gave me much more than I expected — not just sights to see, but hearts to feel, and memories to treasure.
This wasn’t just a tour. This was a reminder — that the world is beautiful, people are kind, and blessings are often right before our eyes — if only we take a moment to notice.
Thank you, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, for making me feel truly alive.
